This is purely fantasy, not scifi (other than it is set up in the future ruins of human civilization).
Created on MTV, they put references from Warcraft (Tree of Life aka Ellcrys, The Elves with their distinctive pointy ears, trolls, and mentioned gnomes and dwarves but so far into the 4th episode are yet to be seen), Skyrim/Oblivion/Lord of the Rings (or any reference of Middle Earth) with demons with the thorny cap. We know the series is set in the future because there’s the Seattle’s Space Needle ruins in the opening of the pilot episode, covered with greens.
The druid Allanon is played by a familiar face, Manu Bennet who played Deathstroke on Arrow universe. Druids are not portrayed as frail old men like on Asterix comics, but more like muscular magic users (you know what I mean if you’ve seen Manu Bennet/Deathstroke). They have this Jedi tricks (mind reading) and ethos (the mission always comes first, no time for emotion). The master demon himself was originally a druid, who was seduced to the demon/dark side. With a whiny chosen one who have the burden of saving the world, you can see the Star Wars adventure formula here.
All in all, if you are into Dungeon and Dragons lore, this could be interesting. Albeit I haven’t seen a single dungeon nor dragon.
